A report in the Daily Record, suggests that the SFA are considering a major overhaul of their current disciplinary system, after a meeting with all 12 current SPL clubs.
Part of that overhaul may involve the appointment of referees from outside of Scotland in an attempt to improve the standard of officiating.

It’s thought that that motion was led by Celtic, but received support from other clubs.
Controversial Compliance Officer, Clare Whyte, was at the meeting, as she continues to come under fire for her recent handling of various flash points.

She cited Allan McGregor for violent conduct, yet failed to bring further action against Alan Power of Kilmarnock or Celtic’s Jozo Simunovic.

It appears that changes are now afoot, though.
Billed as a
Daily Record exclusive, the piece was compiled by their Chief Football Writer, Keith Jackson.
He has since reacted to the story on Twitter.

Of course, back in 2010, questioning of officials led to a referee strike.
In that instance, replacements came from the likes of Malta and Luxembourg.
There’s no suggestion that such an event will arise again, but clearly, Jackson believes these are choppy waters.
When clubs go to war with governing bodies and officials, there’s rarely a speedy resolution.
