A price has finally been set for reported Rangers’ target Kristiyan Malinov, according to reports in Bulgaria.
According to TopSport.bg, CSKA Sofia want €2m for their 13-cap Bulgarian midfielder with reported interest from a host of clubs across Europe.
Rangers were first linked to Malinov in the Bulgarian press [7 Sport] as the Ibrox club look to sign a midfielder ahead of the new campaign.
These reports were echoed in Scotland but the Glasgow Times managed to get a hold of a source close to the player who described the reports as a “privilege”.
This Scottish report also suggested there was interest in the player from Holland, Belgium, Germany and Turkey.
The source told the Glasgow Times:
“Rangers is a brand in European football. Everybody knows them, so having interest from Rangers is a big deal for Kristiyan and it is a privilege for him to be among contenders on their wish list.
“It would also be a privilege for him to play under Steven Gerrard and be mentored from a coach who was one of the best midfielders in the last decade.
“As a midfielder, he feels he could gain a lot from him, especially in a tactical sense.
“His mentality is something Rangers fans would love as he is a player who leaves everything out on the park.”
Malinov, 26, is one of a host of midfielders who have been linked to Ibrox this summer as Steven Gerrard looks to add to his squad.
