Premiership rivals Hibs have apologised for alleged sinister comments made on their official club media channel about Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos.
The Gers visited Easter Road during the week with Morelos being caught up in controversy with Ryan Porteous before going on to score the winner in a 1-0 win.
Scottish author Irvine Welsh is a prominent Hibee and was on commentary duties for the match with Rangers in Edinburgh.
According to reports on Twitter from Hibs fans watching the coverage, Welsh said he wanted Morelos “chopped up with a machete and sent to all corners of the globe”.
According to the Scottish Sun, the outspoken author also used a sectarian term via rhyming slang in comments which prompted complaints to OFCOM.
Now, the Rangers Supporters Liaison Officer has confirmed that the Gers have received an apology from Hibs as an official investigation gets underway.
According to the Daily Record, Hampden bosses will write to Rangers’ Premiership rivals officially to request footage of the comments after the Easter Road club cut it from their package of the match.
It’s the latest in a string of violent and inappropriate comments aimed at the Rangers striker and that report claims Hibs could be “clobbered” by the SFA as a result.
