Premier League new boys Leeds United are still ‘actively interested’ in Rangers winger Ryan Kent – despite the Ibrox star being clear he wants to stay at Ibrox.

According to the Athletic’s Leeds correspondent Phil Hay, Marcelo Bielsa’s stretched squad are in dire need of reinforcements with a lingering interest in the tricky Rangers wide man.

The news will come as a worry to Rangers fans who were delighted to see a reported £10m Leeds bid for the winger thrown out by the club earlier in the transfer window.

As it stands Leeds are yet to follow the offer up with another – despite reports of a £14m bid being readied – but the comments of Hay suggest they may well consider it in the coming weeks.

The suggestion also comes after Marcelo Bielsa admitted to Leeds Live the club were still in the hunt for new additions after the win over Fulham.

“There’s no concrete options at the moment. A lot of interest, but nothing concrete, so I would rather talk after they’re done,” said Bielsa.

Italian businessman and Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani also told the Financial Times the Elland Road club still has £35m-£50m left in their transfer budget this summer.

Rangers winger Ryan Kent has been the club’s best player this season and has netted four goals and laid on three assists in eight games this season.

It is unclear how much the Ibrox side officially value the talented ex-Liverpool star at but there’s little doubt the player is immensely valuable to this Rangers team.
