Premier League side Leeds United are set to turn their attention back to Rangers winger Ryan Kent as £35m talks to bring Udinese vice-captain Rodrigo de Paul to Elland Road stall.
That’s according to the Daily Mirror, who claim Rangers man Kent remains on Marcelo Bielsa’s wish list despite Leeds having a reported £10m bid rejected earlier in the transfer window.
The Scottish Sun report comes after comments by the Athletic’s Phil Hay which suggested Kent remained on the newly promoted Premier League side’s radar.
Talks have stalled over Udinese midfielder Rodrigo de Paul with the £35m asking price an issue for Leeds, who would realistically be able to bid less for Rangers winger Ryan Kent.
According to the Mirror, Leeds are willing to pay Udinese £22.3m for de Paul and Kent is a genuine alternative if both clubs cannot get past their current “impasse”.
The news will come as a worry to Rangers fans who were delighted to see a reported £10m Leeds bid for the winger thrown out by the club earlier in the transfer window.
The suggestion also comes after Marcelo Bielsa admitted to Leeds Live the club were still in the hunt for new additions after the win over Fulham.
“There’s no concrete options at the moment. A lot of interest, but nothing concrete, so I would rather talk after they’re done,” said Bielsa.
Italian businessman and Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani also told the Financial Times the Elland Road club still has £35m-£50m left in their transfer budget this summer.
Rangers winger Ryan Kent has been the club’s best player this season and has netted four goals and laid on three assists in eight games this season.
