Premier League giants Liverpool have signed one-time Rangers linked Greek international full-back Konstantinos Tsimikas from Super League Greece side Olympiakos.

Jurgen Klopp’s men moved to sign the 24-year-old full-back on a five-year contract in a deal believed to be worth £11.7m [BBC Sport].

The pacey full-back has three caps for the Greek national team and will provide direct competition to Scotland captain and Liverpool’s first-choice left-back Andy Robertson.

Rangers were heavily linked to Tsimikas back in December 2019, originally by Greek news outlet Page News.

The story was picked up by the Daily Record who echoed the claims that Werder Bremen, Nice, Fiorentina, Fenerbahce, Galatasaray and Rennes were all interested in the player.

At the time of those reports, Olympiakos were said to value Tsimikas at £8.5m [Page News].

Rangers have Croatian first-choice left-back Borna Barisic in their side whilst the Ibrox side have also completed the signing of former Leicester City youth player Calvin Bassey.

Liverpool have now moved to sign the player with Tsimikas delighted the deal has finally been concluded.

“I’m very happy, I’m very proud to be here. For me, [it’s] the biggest club in the world. It’s an honour to be here and I will give my best,” Tsimikas told Liverpoolfc.com.

“The league here, I like a lot. I watch it on the TV and it was always one dream I had from when I was a kid to come to play in this league and to come through.

“With a lot of work and focus on what I do and what the coach wants, and every day working hard in training, I can be on the highest level.
