Premier League giants Arsenal are reportedly plotting a return for Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara as interest in the Finnish international heats up.

According to GiveMeSport, ex-Rangers midfielder Mikel Arteta is lining up a move for Kamara after Mesut Ozil’s transfer to Fenerbahce freed up funds.

Ozil, 32, was reportedly on an incredible £350k per week in North London [talkSPORT].

Kamara, 25, came through the youth ranks at Arsenal but was released from the London side before heading up north in a move to Dundee.

Managed by ex-Rangers winger Neil McCann at Dens Park, Kamara’s impressive performances in dark blue eventually piqued the interest of Rangers and Steven Gerrard.

Kamara would sign a pre-contract deal at Ibrox in January 2019 before the Ibrox side negotiated a transfer later in the month, famously paying £50k for the Finnish international’s services.

Since moving to Ibrox Kamara has gone on to establish himself as a hugely influential player at Rangers, the talented midfielder one of the club’s leading performers.

Clocking up close to 100 appearances already in Glasgow, Kamara’s performances have previously seen him linked with a host of Premier League and top European sides [TEAMtalk].

The reports also come after Kamara revealed he was in discussion with Rangers regarding a new contract with his current deal having two years left to run.

“There’s been some talks,” confirmed Kamara [Scottish Sun]. “The season’s been good. Obviously, we’ve just become champions.”

“It’s been a success so far. I still have two years left on my contract.

“There’s still time over the summer to see what will happen.”

Rangers will be hoping to tie one of the club’s best players down on a longer-term deal but should the likes of Arsenal come knocking the Gers can still expect a substantial investment as a result.

Whilst Kamara is being linked with a move down south, a £15m Championship captain is officially set for release amid links to a move up north with Rangers.
