Premier League club Everton plan to make another bid for Rangers star Nathan Patterson during the January transfer window, according to the Daily Mail.
Everton have been keen on Patterson for some time and failed to sign him in the summer.
Rangers reportedly rejected an offer of £5m from the Toffees in August and then Patterson was forced into isolation following a Covid outbreak at Ibrox.
When he returned to action, the window had closed, so Rafa Benitez missed out.
It seems he’s determined to bring the Scotland international to Goodison Park, though, as the Daily Mail report that Everton are set to test the Gers’ resolve once again next month.
It’s suggested that they may need to cough up somewhere in the region of £10m to get their man.
Will Rangers sell if Everton table big bid?
Patterson is the only Academy graduate for a number of years to burst into the Rangers first-team squad and stay there.
He’s a huge talent, so it’s no surprise that not only Everton but also European giants such as Bayern Munich, PSG and Atletico Madrid have all also been credited with interest [90min].
Plenty of fans are desperate for the club to hold onto him and for him to become a Rangers legend.
However, the reality is that a player sale or two is coming and that for all his ability, Patterson isn’t a regular starter.
Should James Tavernier stay fit for the rest of the season, selling Patterson in January may have little to no impact on where Rangers finish in the league.
That could be the decisive factor, but for the Light Blues to sell one of their own, Everton will still surely need to stump up even more than the £10m suggested in this latest report.
