Reports emerged this afternoon that Premier League Crystal Palace had lodged a formal offer worth up to £25m for one-time Rangers target and Liverpool talent Rhian Brewster.
Sky Sports sent the English press into overdrive when they claimed the London side had made a £19m offer plus £6m of add-ons for the striker, with the deal said to include a £37m buy-back option.
But incredibly Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish has hit out at the reports describing them as a “total fabrication” from the broadcaster.
Taking to Twitter, Parish said:
“We have asked Sky to take this down as it is a total fabrication from start to finish. We have not made a bid formal or informal.”
Brewster is reportedly a man in demand with Sheffield United previously being said to have agreed a £15m fee for the player last week [Fourth Official].
Rangers were linked with a loan move for Brewster back in June [Scottish Sun] with Steven Gerrard having previously taken advantage of old side Liverpool for a range of loanees in the past.
Both Ryan Kent and Ovie Ejaria joined the Gers on loan in the Scouser’s first season in charge with Sheyi Ojo joining Rangers in the last campaign.
The Liverpool youngster, 20, spent a spell on loan at Swansea City last season, scoring 11 goals in 20 Championship games despite a range of knee and ankle injuries.
It’s fair to say Rangers would be priced out of a permanent move for the youngster with the kind of fees being mentioned alongside Premier League clubs far beyond what the Gers could pay for the youngster.
