In 24 hours time, Rangers will be taking to the field against Dundee.
Their opponents currently sit bottom of the SPL, but are coming off the back of a 4-0 hammering of Hamilton.
It’s a fixture that can’t be taken lightly, and the manager is likely to reflect that in his team selection.
Firstly, the Gers’ much publicised disciplinary issues ensure that key players, Alfredo Morelos and Scott Arfield, will miss this one.
Kyle Lafferty is highly likely to lead the line in Morelos’ absence, despite his run of ten games without a goal for club or country.
Ryan Jack should also continue in place of Arfield, as while his inclusion reduces Rangers’ goal threat from midfield, he represents a solid option away from home.
Elsewhere, Gerrard may look to freshen up his side after an all-round poor performance in mid-week. Having started Rangers’ win at Tynecastle last Sunday, Eros Grezda may be reinstated at the expense of Glenn Middleton.
The Gers central midfield failed to control the Aberdeen match. Consequently, the manager could look to drop either Lassana Coulibaly or Ovie Ejaria. Both have seen a dip in performance lately, with Ross McCrorie the likely beneficiary.
At left-back, Jon Flanagan is likely to miss out after being hooked at half-time during the week. Borna Barisic has been declared available and could return, although if only fit enough for the bench, Andy Halliday will deputise.
Gareth McAuley may be fortunate to retain his place, with Joe Worrall waiting in the wings. Particularly good news, is that Ryan Kent looks set to return to the bench, having recovered from a hamstring injury.
