Rangers have been handed a potential transfer boost as a move for Ibrox-linked talent Kwadwo Baah is reportedly possible once more after his proposed transfer to Premier League giants Manchester City fell through.

The Guardian claimed last month that City had agreed a pre-contract deal for the Rochdale winger, who would officially move to the Etihad in the summer before heading back to the EFL on loan for the 2021/22 season.

That was seen as a blow for the Gers and several other clubs, including Bayern Munich and Juventus, who were all said to be tracking Baah [The Athletic].

Yet, the Telegraph reported on Tuesday morning that the deal fell through ‘at the medical stage’ and so he is back on the market.

If the 18-year-old did fail a medical at City, that may be a concern for the Gers going forward.

Whatever the issue is, though, it’s not keeping him out of action at Spotland, as he’s featured in 20 consecutive League One fixtures for the Dale.

He’s been short of goals and assists since netting a stunning brace in a 4-4 draw at Charlton in January, but the important thing is that Baah has the raw attributes to develop into an outstanding player.

He is extremely quick, powerful and has a cannon of a right foot.

What’s more, he’s out of contract in the summer and is therefore available on the cheap.

Rangers would need to pay compensation, as they did to secure Joe Aribo from Charlton in the summer of 2019, but there’s no danger that a big transfer fee would be required.

Steven Gerrard doesn’t currently have many pacy attackers at his disposal, with Ryan Kent and Scott Wright perhaps the only two players who are fully comfortable in wide roles.

However, there are a number of wingers out on loan and three of them scored in the EFL this week as their battle to impress the Gers boss heats up.
