The 22-year-old turned out 50 times on loan for the Shrews last season. Therefore, he’s perfectly placed to inform his fellow blue nose about life at New Meadow.
The two sides experienced contrasting fortunes over the last campaign, though. Docherty’s adopted club narrowly avoided relegation with an 18th place finish, while Portsmouth came fourth before losing out to Sunderland in the playoffs.
