Playmaker “all in” as Clement sets new standard for Rangers

Todd Cantwell is a welcome sight in the Rangers squad after returning from a knee injury sustained when the penultimate nail was hammered into Michael Beale’s managerial coffin.

What looked like a run that had won a point saving penalty turned into the Light Blue’s most productive playmaker being missing for six weeks.

Speaking ahead of the crunch Europa League group stage tie with Sparta Prague, Todd Cantwell has been explaining the impact that Philipe Clement has made already, via Rangers TV.

Todd Cantwell on board with new Rangers boss

Todd Cantwell has yet to properly experience Rangers in Europe having only played a handful of games and he will be dying to prove that he can be the main man to get the campaign back on track.

Missing the Aris Limassol defeat would have been hugely frustrating for the 25-year old but he now has the chance to make amends, as reported by Rangers TV:

“Since the boss has come in, he’s implemented the way he wants to play. He’s been clear it’s not going to happen overnight.

“I don’t think anyone has the power to do that with a group of 20 lads.  But listen, we’re all in. We got off to a good start and we’re excited as much as anyone.

“It was really difficult. Results took a turn for the worse and when you’re injured you feel a little bit helpless.

“Although you are in and around the changing room, you can’t really affect anything that’s happening.”

Clement’s message appears to be a simple one.

More intensity, more aggression, more intent.

Exactly the sort of philosophy that could see the best of Todd Cantwell for Rangers.

A manager who builds a team around a player who will be brave in possession and who will try to make things happen.

Cantwell only returned to action at the weekend but, instantly, looked sharper and more direct than anyone else on the pitch.

He’s got a point to prove and Clement is the man to help him prove it.
