Rangers sold Ross McCrorie for just £350,000 and now Aberdeen legend Joe Harper believes the Scottish Premiership ace is worth ‘a minimum of £4 million’.
Now, McCrorie may never live up to Pedro Caixinha’s claims that he was destined to become ‘one of the best centre-halves in history’. But, at the age of 25, the former U21 international is at least blossoming into ‘one of the best’ in Scotland.
The ever-versatile McCrorie even captained Aberdeen last time out in a 2-0 win against his former employers; Barry Robson’s side securing their seventh league win in a row.

In fact, his form at Pittodrie has been so impressive that one Dons icon believes a rumoured bid of £2 million from Bristol City should be enough to buy only one leg and maybe a few toes.
Former Rangers man Ross McCrorie could now leave Aberdeen
“It would be extremely disappointing if Aberdeen accept just £2m for Ross McCrorie,” Harper, the club’s all-time record goalscorer, tells the Press and Journal.
“The versatile defender-midfielder is worth at least double that. McCrorie still has three years left on his Aberdeen contract and is an extremely influential player for the Reds.
“Any team interested in signing him should start with a minimum bid of £4m and then expect to be pushed up to a higher figure to land him.”
Ross McCrorie, the twin brother of Rangers goalkeeper Robbie, started his career at Ibrox before joining Aberdeen for a bargain £350,000. He has been an almost ever-present over the last eight months, thriving at centre-half, in defensive midfield and even on the right-hand side.
In fact, Robson could probably hand McCrorie a spot between the sticks and be confident of coming home with a clean sheet.
“McCrorie captained the Reds to the 2-0 win against Rangers, and was excellent. He can play at wing-back, right-back, centre-back and in midfield,” Harper adds.
“McCrorie is fast, powerful, influential and is so important to Aberdeen. To let him go for just £2m would be selling the Dons and McCrorie short.”
Rangers will, at least, bank a six-figure fee from McCrorie’s move to Ashton Gate due to the presence of a sell-on clause in his contract. A £2 million switch would earn the Gers around £200,000, per the Glasgow Times.
