Philippe Clement’s potential last stand with Rangers next seven games to Old Firm cup final

Rangers fans continue to see the international break as a respite from the football currently being served up by Philippe Clement. 

Inconsistency continues to be a problem for the manager with a squad that doesn’t seem capable of following up one good performance with another. 

With the appointment of a CEO and sporting director – hopefully – on the horizon, if Clement wants to keep his job, the next seven fixtures could be pivotal for Rangers.

Rangers next seven fixtures as Old Firm cup final looms

Competing on three fronts, the Gers boss will be encouraged by having more players back fit and available, all he has to do now is select them. 

Having players like Ianis Hagi sitting on the bench whilst Rangers struggle, is not a good look for the man in charge. 

Rangers vs Dundee United

Sitting in fourth place, Dundee Utd will provide a stern test when domestic football returns.

The fact that they have scored two goals more than Rangers says it all.

Nice vs Rangers

The away form in Europe under Clement has been near faultless since arriving at Rangers and he will be looking to match a record set by Steven Gerrard with the trip to France. 

In 32^nd place in the Europa League league phase table and sixth in Ligue 1, they are there for the taking.

St Johnstone v Rangers 

A trip to Perth to face St Johnstone is up next, currently occupying 10^th place in the Scottish Premiership, they have scored the same number of goals as Rangers – a problem that Clement clearly has to fix. 

Rangers v Kilmarnock 

Three days later and Rangers get the chance to put right the shambles of Rugby Park by beating Kilmarnock.

Clement has been at the club long enough now to not be surprised by how teams set up and have the appropriate game plan in place.

Are Rangers legally obliged to play Ross County with a 12pm kick-off in Dingwall?

As with every league fixture, another must win game as perrformances come under even more scrutiny.

Rangers v Tottenham Hotspur 

Ange Postecoglu will be looking forward to returning to Ibrox, if he is still in the Spurs hotseat, however, he did lose his last game against Rangers when he was at Celtic. 

Lyon were good, but the expectation is that Spurs will be even better, perfect preparation for the next game. 

Rangers v Celtic 

The Premier Sports Cup final is almost make or break for Clement, after a year in charge he is yet to beat Celtic and the two Old Firm clubs are locked on the same number of trophies won.

It could be the game that restores belief or ends it altogether.
