Philippe Clement has explained how a flu which ripped through the Rangers squad this week won’t rule any of his players out vs Dundee.

The manager has had to contend with the virus during his side’s training week following the Premier Sports Cup Final last weekend.

Given Gers‘ luck – or lack thereof – in the injury department this season so far, something as small as a seasonal bug doing the rounds might have spooked the boss ahead of the Ibrox clash.

Luckily, however, the Belgian has revealed that he does not expect any of his squad to miss out with the virus.

And he also provided the positive update that there are also no fresh injuries to the squad despite playing more than 120 minutes and penalties last weekend.

Speaking as he demanded a bounce back from Sunday’s narrow defeat at Hampden to Celtic, Clement said: “There is some flu going around the building, but don’t expect anyone missing.

“No fresh injuries from the last game.”

One man who might also finally return to action this weekend against the Dark Blues is Oscar Cortes who has not featured since September, also against Dundee.

But Clement did suggest the Colombian may not yet be quite ready to start matches.

“Oscar Cortes will be in the squad,” the boss added.

“We will see about getting minutes – he is not there yet to start the game.”

Clement could unleash Dujon Sterling this weekend, perhaps even in a new role.

With both John Souttar and Neraysho Kasanwirjo both out with knocks, the Light Blues are short at centre-half.

And that is where Sterling could come into the fold as opposed to settling in at right-back as he has so often been used.

It is understood former manager Michael Beale and his scouting staff at the time saw Sterling as a centre-back when doing work on the player but opted to use him as a versatile utility man.

However the opportunity may now have presented itself to Clement to pick him in the middle of the defence.
