Rangers boss Philippe Clement claims that winger Scott Wright is suffering from two problems which could keep him out against Aris Limassol.
Rangers return to action this evening as the Europa League takes centre stage.
The Gers battled to a 1-1 draw at Aberdeen on Sunday and now need to get back to winning ways tonight.
This game won’t be a given; Rangers lost to Aris in Cyprus earlier this season and can’t afford a slip-up at Ibrox.
Real Betis await in the final group stage game, so Rangers really need to win tonight and put one foot in the knockout stages.
Scott Wright could miss Rangers clash
Philippe Clement will be looking for another home win having beaten Sparta Prague last time out in the Europa League.
Clement may look at changes from the Aberdeen game but winger Scott Wright is battling to be involved.
Clement has told Rangers Review that Wright is a ‘doubt’ to play against Aris tonight.
Clement suggests that Wright is facing two issues – not only has he been ill lately, but he also has a muscular problem.
The Rangers boss didn’t completely rule Wright out but it’s unlikely that we will see him in action tonight.
“Scott Wright is a doubt,” said Clement. “He has been sick but he is also struggling a little bit muscular so we will see if he is in the selection or not,” he added.
Even if Wright really pushes to make himself available, it may be best to just leave him out tonight.
Muscle problems should not be messed with and when you add in the illness, it makes sense for Wright to sit out tonight and focus on coming back next week.
Rangers have other options out wide so aren’t absolutely desperate for Wright to be available.
Abdallah Sima and Todd Cantwell started at Aberdeen but Ross McCausland and Rabbi Matondo will be in the mix tonight.
We wouldn’t expect to see Wright, with Clement and the medical staff no doubt weighing up his participation today.
