Rangers manager Philippe Clement has hailed Cyriel Dessers for his bouncebackability – but insists it’s something he demands of his entire squad.
Under fire Rangers hitman Cyriel Dessers missed two golden opportunities to score in the first half of the Europa League draw with Olympiakos.
But the big Nigerian international striker netted a second half stunner by showing some neat footwork after Olympiacos had went ahead in the match.
Speaking about Cyriel Dessers’ ability to come back against adversity, Philippe Clement insists this is something that he demands of all his players.

“It’s crucial and it’s what we’ve been working on with the whole squad from October last season,” said Clement when asked about Dessers going to the well time and again.
“But we had to restart that story also again with a lot of new guys.
“This is football. I want to see that mentality every time.
“It’s very important in the way I want to see a dressing room and the way I want to see a team on the pitch.
“The last couple of months they had a few bangs on their head that we could use as a lesson to get this mentality.
“We have Cyriel but we have other examples also.
“Vaclav (Cerny) was really down after Malmo & Lyon missing the chances. He reacted in the right way.
“Because it’s so important in football that you don’t look back and look forward and you dig in every time when things don’t go your way.
“That’s what we want to do the next couple of months.”
Cyriel Dessers discusses ‘instinctive’ goal
Cyriel Dessers has also been speaking about the goal come full-time with the Rangers striker scoring for the first time in the Europa League this season.
The second half effort against Olympiacos was also Dessers’ second goal in as many matches after scoring v Motherwell after going on a run of seven games without a strike.
Speaking to RangersTV after the game, a smarting Dessers claimed that ‘instinct’ allowed him to send the Olympiacos defender for a toastie before finishing into the bottom corner.
“I think we were already a few times close in midfield,” said Dessers.
“Then Baz (Connor Barron) got his foot in between, made the interception, ball dropped to Vac (Vaclav Cerny) and then Vac sent me through.
“I saw the defender coming so I faked a little bit, I wasn’t going to shoot early, then I could chop him and take the ball past him.
“Then I had a nice finish, dropped it into the bottom corner. It went fast on instinct so I’m happy with the goal.”
