Philippe Clement was delighted come full time as Rangers booked their place in the Europa League top-eight against Union Saint-Gilloise.
But the Belgian manager couldn’t help but be ‘disappointed’ with one aspect of his young team’s play on the night.
Rangers went 2-0 up against the Belgian side at Ibrox thanks to a first half strike from Nicolas Raskin and a second half goal from Vaclav Cerny.
But speaking at full-time, Philippe Clement admits he was ‘disappointed’ to lose a goal courtesy of Kevin Mac Allister’s looping second half header.
Philippe Clement ‘disappointed’ with USG goal
Jack Butland was caught sprawling as USG hauled themselves back into the match against Rangers via Argentine defender Kevin Mac Allister.
The looping header made for a nervy last 10 minutes or so but a young Rangers team held firm to secure a 2-1 win and earn progression to the Europa League Round of 16.
Philippe Clement has hailed his young team for an impressive performance at Ibrox but insists the goal is one moment that blemished an otherwise outstanding display.
“I’m disappointed that we get this goal against,” said Clement.
“At the end 2-0 would have been even better. But it’s a massive result.
“Against what you saw. A very physical team. A very direct team. Who did also brilliantly in this Europa League until now.
“So I’m very proud. For sure with the circumstances. How all the squads have worked together.”
Rangers set up Europa League R16 tie
Rangers have earned a bye to the Europa League Round of 16 and won’t have to navigate a tricky playoff after finishing in the top eight of the competition.
There are four possible teams Rangers could face in the Europa League with Bodo/Glimt, Fenerbahce, FC Twente and Anderlecht all potential opponents.

Philippe Clement will need all the help he can get to reach the latter stages of the competition but the Rangers boss was coy on potential transfers this January.
Rangers will however be able to add three players to their Europa League squad from the original squad list, meaning Ianis Hagi, Clinton Nsiala and Danilo could all be involved.
