Philippe Clement has had enough issues at Rangers without a succession of injury issues at Ibrox.

The Belgian manager walked into a Rangers medical department in disarray and whilst there has been improvement this season, injury problems continue to plague the squad.

Rangers managed to overcome Hearts despite a number of issues and Philippe Clement was asked about the state of the Ibrox treatment room at full-time.

Philippe Clement gives injury update on Rangers trio

Philippe Clement turned heads by including Tom Lawrence in the starting line-up at Tynecastle.

The Rangers midfielder has had a three-year Ibrox stint pretty much destroyed by repeated injury problems and earned his first start since November against Hearts.

Referencing the return of Lawrence to the Rangers squad, Clement admits that he is hoping to see three players return to training in the coming days.

Danilo, Connor Barron and Dujon Sterling have all had their injury issues as of late.

But the Rangers manager admits that the clash against St Mirren at Ibrox next weekend will likely come too soon for the trio.

”It’s a difficult one maybe in training, but towards the game it’s going to be maybe more difficult,” said Clement when asked if Rangers are expecting any of their crocked players to return.

”But you see Tom took his minutes for the first time today after being out a long time, I think it was September or October when he fell out.

“He was important also, what he did today, in his smartness and being available between the lines. So I hope to recover maybe one or two bodies more in the training.

“I think Danilo will start to be in training with contact now, so that’s also an extra thing. And I think Conor Barron is also close towards training. Dujon Sterling is also close towards training.

“But then we need to see what their physical level is for the moment.”

Where is Oscar Cortes?

Whilst the returns of Danilo, Connor Barron and Dujon Sterling will be welcomed by Rangers, there was no mention of Colombian winger Oscar Cortes.

Rangers signed a £4m loan-to-buy deal for Oscar Cortes in the summer despite the winger sustaining an injury last season which decimated an initial loan spell.

Those injury problems have persisted into this campaign, with Rangers desperately short at left-wing as a result.

Given Oscar Cortes wasn’t included against Hearts, nor was he mentioned by Philippe Clement, it’s fair to assume the winger is still some way away from a return.

The attacker – who has only made eight appearances this season – made a brief return to the team at the beginning of January but hasn’t been seen for over a month.
