Earlier comments from Rangers manager Philippe Clement explain Abdallah Sima’s special “baby” celebration against St Mirren.
The Senegalese forward, 22, netted both goals as Rangers overcame St Mirren 2-0 at Ibrox in the Scottish Premiership.
With a tough test away to Hearts looming large on Wednesday night, Rangers will hope the Brighton loanee can carry that form into Tynecastle.
But after netting his second goal in the comfortable Rangers victory, Abdallah Sima ran away rocking his arms in celebration as if he was cradling a baby.
Philippe Clement explains Abdallah Sima celebration
The moment comes after Philippe Clement had spoken about Abdallah Sima’s form in the aftermath of having a baby following the draw with Aris Limassol.
Frustrations had been bubbling ahead of the clash with St Mirren as the under-fire Rangers team blew two big opportunities in draws with Aberdeen and the Cypriot side.
First failing to take advantage of a Celtic stumble at Pittodrie, the Ibrox side then failed to secure a place in the Europa League knockouts by drawing with Aris.
After the match, Philippe Clement spoke about the challenge of Abdallah Sima having a new baby and the St Mirren celebration very much seems focused on that.
“I’ve seen [Abdallah] Sima in the last few games a little bit at a lower level after the birth of his baby, some less sleep and maybe the occasion,” said Clement.
“There are still a few weeks and I have time to think and see what the team situation is.
“We have had a few interesting weeks in that way with players who have been injured or players who are getting babies – there are quite a few in December and January.
“Those are things to look towards because we need everyone at their top level. We have everything to win there. We already have European football in the new year but we can also win the group.
“So for sure that is going to be the idea – to win the game and end the group in the right way.”
Senegalese striker’s baby delight
Speaking after the match with St Mirren, Abdallah Sima also expressed his delight after the birth of his new baby and the celebration.
Speaking after scoring his 10th and 11th goals of a productive loan move, the striker also said he’s “very happy” after his first goals in five league games.
The 22-year-old striker is certainly a very likeable man and everyone at Rangers News wishes the forward the best of luck as he welcomes a new addition to his family.
“That’s the first time for me to become a dada,” said Sima. “That’s just now my life. I am a father now so that’s really important for me.
“It means now I have more responsibilities and I have to work more to make proud my daughter. For me it’s really important.”

When asked about how he’s been handling the birth, Sima added: “That’s not easy for me, this last week was really hard.
“Some father’s they tell me it’s going to be hard for me, I say ‘no worries, I will do it’. But after one week I feel this is really hard to do.
“I also have help from the club, they help me a lot, so for today I am happy to score goals for my daughter but also for the team.”
Abdallah Sima joined Rangers on loan from Premier League Brighton in the summer but one Ibrox-linked scout claims the club were interested in the forward well before then.
