Philippe Clement held talks with Patrick Stewart after Rangers crashed out of the Scottish Cup to Queen’s Park.
But the Ibrox manager’s future was NOT on the agenda as the club’s under fire coach and CEO dissected the disastrous result against the Spiders.
Rangers have missed out on both domestic cups this season and will need a miracle to turn around a 13 point gap in the Scottish Premiership.
But despite the swell of Rangers fans making up their mind on Philippe Clement, the Rangers manager insists he has not held talks over his future.
Philippe Clement holds talks with Patrick Stewart
”It’s been a long week, a very long week compared to all the rest,” Clement told the press ahead of the clash with Hearts.
”After a defeat like that where you’re full of frustrations about the result you want to get a game as fast as possible to react.
”To do the right things, to give the fans the right things also. So it’s a long week in that sense.
”I spoke with Patrick (Stewart) like after every game so nothing special towards other weeks.”
Rangers manager insists focus was on football
The Rangers manager was also asked about potential backing form the Ibrox board and refused to be drawn on the questions.
But Philippe Clement did go into greater detail with regards the conversations with Patrick Stewart at Ibrox.
The Rangers manager insists that the focus was on the football and that he was also devastated after crashing out of the Cup.
The comments send a firm message to Rangers fans that as things stand, Philippe Clement is going nowhere.
”No I am not busy with that because the board is a lot of people here in the club who are all over the world,” said Clement.
”I’m in contact with Patrick. We had a talk about the game, over the game, after the game like we always do and it was in the same way as before.
”Of course I was also devastated, frustrated after the result. I was frustrated to be on the sidelines during that game.
”You get that amount of chances and one moment you want to run onto the field to shoot the ball yourself into the goal.
”But that’s not my job to do.”
Clement: ‘a lot of positives’ this season
When asked if he still had the 200% backing of the Rangers board, Clement claims that there has been no suggestion his job is under threat.
The Rangers manager also pointed to the minor success stories of the season as being positives, despite Rangers once again heading for the middle of a donut this season.
”It’s about the next games, the next months, everything,” said Clement.
“I know we didn’t want to go out of the cup. I didn’t have any other signal of no backing. And that’s the case in football as a manager.
“So I’m going forward to get the results that we want and also to continue making the development of all the players. It’s been the case the last period. We had good results. You guys talked a lot about the away record and it was true also domestically.

“We had a good game in Dundee United scoring three goals there in the last couple of weeks.
“Three goals, four goals, five goals, domination, good games against Tottenham and a new, qualifying in the first eight for Europa League was above expectations.
”We had a good win against Celtic at Ibrox. So a lot of positives.
“This was a very negative one. It’s not a reflection of everything that happened this season with this group of players.
“But we need to get back to the level that they had a week before. We need to work on that.
“And we need to have the right mindset for that. And that’s about reacting after this unacceptable defeat.”
