Perennially crocked Rangers star drops Hearts return hint

Rangers striker Kemar Roofe has dropped the biggest hint yet that he’s set to return to the Ibrox side for the clash against Hearts at Tynecastle.

Jamaican international Roofe, 29, hasn’t been seen since coming off the bench in the Europa League Final defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt, meaning he has not kicked a ball so far this season.

The striker’s time at Ibrox has been hampered by injury and whilst the ex-Leeds United star has been effective whenever he has played, Roofe is one of a number of perennially crocked Ibrox first-teamers.

But as Rangers hope to use the international break to get closer to their full complement, it looks like Kemar Roofe could be set for his first appearance of the season against the Jambos.

This is after the attacker uploaded a video to Instagram of him asking club kitman Jim McAlister to take his kit out of a box ahead of the clash.

“Jim, are you printing up my shirt?” asks Roofe.

Ex-Morton captain McAlister then produced the orange “Morelos 20” shirt to which Roofe replies: “No, that’s the wrong shirt.”

“Yours is in there,” replied McAllister, with Roofe then responding: “Now we’re talking.”

If Rangers can get Kemar Roofe back into the club’s squad in the coming weeks it will represent a major boost to the Gers’ chances with the striker a potent option when fit.

In 72 games for Rangers across two seasons, the striker has managed 34 goals and five assists, meaning he averages a goal contribution better than one every two games.

The biggest issue the striker has had throughout his career is fitness but as he edges closer to being available the prospect of Rangers having Kemar Roofe, Alfredo Morelos and Antonio Colak all vying for the striker spot is a tantalising one for supporters.

Now the Gers just need to hope Filip Helander, Ben Davies, John Souttar, Tom Lawrence, Ianis Hagi and Alex Lowry are all inching closer to a first-team return too.

Meanwhile, a former £8m midfielder recently linked to Rangers has taken a major decision on his future.
