The agent of reported Rangers target Patrik Hrošovský has been speaking about his client’s future at KRC Genk and admits there’s a 50-50 chance the Slovakian could leave the Belgian club.

Rangers were linked to the former Viktoria Plzeň captain by iSport.cz who claimed the Gers were very interested in a loan-to-buy deal for the 28-year-old midfielder.

This was then repeated in the Belgian media, with local press adamant that the Jupiler Pro League side would only part with the player on a permanent deal.

Speaking to Sport.sk, Hrošovský’s representative David Zika opened up on Genk’s stance as the Slovak outlet claims the Belgian side spent £5.8m (€6.5m) on the player last summer.

“The Genk coach came up with the idea of playing with young players and especially strength players,” said Zika,

“We know that Pato has other advantages as a midfielder. He is a football player who is strong on the ball, has an excellent reading game and is suitable for combination.

“Coach Wolf, however, has its vision that we have, so far, to respect.

“The situation is such that Genk has given instructions that if you get the opportunity Patrick sell and he could not resist, he would be open to this possibility.

“On the other hand, there is the possibility that Patrick could wait for his chance in Genk.

“It could happen that there will be changes in the club, whether coach Wolf will be there or not, or there will be changes in the line-up and Patrik could come back again.

“Currently, the situation is as it is and we are trying to respond to it. We have until October 5th so until then we will try to find the most suitable way out.

“I think it’s about 50 to 50.

“It can happen that nothing happens and Pato goes back to the Genk line-up and, on the other hand, there is also a chance that a candidate will show up and Patrik will move to another club.”

It sounds like the midfielder is very much out of the picture at Genk but the Belgian side are playing hardball over an asking price.

Rangers reportedly want the player on a loan-to-buy and it remains to be seen if either the Gers are willing to meet Genk’s demands and vice-versa.

The Ibrox side won’t be without competition for the midfielder either.

The Slovak report links Serie B side Crotone as well as La Liga club Getafe to the midfielder.

A return to the Czech Republic with Slavia Prague, Sparta Prague or Viktoria Plzeň is also mooted as a possibility.
