Partick Thistle manager, Ian McCall, has explained the shock decision to release former Rangers striker, Kenny Miller, midway through the season.
40-year-old Miller had played over 2500 minutes across all competitions since joining the Jags in the summer, scoring 10 goals in 32 appearances.

He played 81 minutes of Saturday’s 2-1 Scottish Cup Fourth Round defeat to Celtic, but just days later, the club announced his departure.
That statement preceded confirmation of the signing of Brian Graham from Ross County.
Speaking at Firhill on Thursday afternoon, McCall explained that with both Graham and Zak Rudden now at the club, there was little prospect of further game time for Miller.
“I just had a chat with Kenny and he wasn’t going to play, it was very amicable,” he explained. “He’s been first-class in the way that he’s trained etc, but we felt it was the right thing.”
“Alex Jones has to come into the reckoning too. He’s come in and actually done quite well in the games he’s played and you’ve got to maybe push Dario Zanatta into forward areas aswell.
“So, listen, it was a number of things but I’d like to think Kenny appreciated my honesty – I’m pretty sure he did. I think the statement says it all, we wish him well.”
Thereafter, the Thistle boss wouldn’t be drawn on a specific prediction concerning the veteran’s future.
“I’m sure he’d still be able to do a job for somebody, but ultimately that’ll be up to Kenny whether he wants to do that or not.”
