Former Rangers midfielder Aaron Ramsey has been named as part of Who Scored’s Worst Rated World Cup XI after a disappointing tournament for Wales.

The OGC Nice midfielder, 31, spent the majority of his time at Rangers on the treatment table but started every single game for Wales as they crashed out of Group B.

Aaron Ramsey played the entire game in clashes with England (0-3) and the USA (1-1) but was substituted with just minutes to play in Wales’ 2-0 defeat to Iran.

The Welsh national team finished bottom of their group at the tournament as only their second World Cup showing ended in bitter disappointment after promising so much.

To add insult to injury, Aaron Ramsey has been named as amongst the tournament’s worst players with Who Scored ranking the Wales midfielder alongside several underperformers.

This includes four players from the Qatar national team, new Celtic signing Alastair Johnston, and disappointing Netherlands star Steven Bergwijn.

GK – Borjan (Canada), CB – Duarte (Costa Rica), CB – Veljkovic (Serbia), CB – Khoukhi (Qatar), RWB – Johnston (Canada), CM – Ramsey (Wales), CM – Al Haydos (Qatar), LWB – Ahmed (Qatar), CAM – Lukic (Serbia), ST – Ali (Qatar), ST – Bergwijn (Netherlands)

Wales’ Aaron Ramsey in World Cup XI

The inclusion of Wales star Aaron Ramsey in Who Scored’s worst rated World Cup XI will bring painful flashbacks to Rangers fans following the Europa League Final.

Signed on loan from Juventus in January, Aaron Ramsey contributed little in five months at Ibrox except from being the man to painfully miss the decisive spot kick against Frankfurt in Seville.

Once a Ranger, always a Ranger and all that, but try and find us a Rangers fan who doesn’t wince at least a little at the mere mention of the ex-Arsenal star’s name.

It will probably always be too raw.

Meanwhile, Rangers have just left their expectant rivals sick with the latest development at the club.
