Ovie Ejaria’s displays at Ibrox this season have largely impressed the Rangers support. It seems, however, that he doesn’t seem as delighted.
The midfielder put in another power of running against St Mirren, but struggled with his end product. When you look at the on-loan Liverpool man’s stats, it’s difficult to find positives in his goal or assist return.
Since arriving for the season in the summer, Ejaria has only managed to notch two goals in 22 matches. Added to that, he’s failed to bag even one assist. For a forward-thinking midfielder, that isn’t enough.

There’s plenty Ejaria does well, but he wasn’t overly-satisfied with himself after the St Mirren victory. Speaking to Rangers TV, Ejaria touched on his Ibrox form.
“I’m quite happy with my performances at times. But I think I need to score some more goals and get some more assists, which I’m really working on every day in training.
“I’m getting close, but I’m just going to keep trying. Hopefully one of them will go in for me. It’s something I’m really looking forward to doing.”
A real trier
You can’t whack Ejaria for his effort. He’s always making himself available in the forward areas, and came so close against St Mirren to notching his goal. An incredible goal-line scramash eventually saw the Buddies scrape the ball away. It was in that moment that the on-loan Liverpool man could’ve gotten his third goal for the club.
So far this season, the midfielder has scored just once domestically and once in Europe. That domestic goal came in the 3-3 draw at Fir Park back in August. The European goal? Only that vital one at Ufa that ultimately saw Rangers qualify for the Europa League.

Ejaria has certainly played his part, but the stats don’t lie. The midfielder certainly needs another strike to boost his confidence. It’s clear that not scoring enough goals is getting to him from the interview. Whilst his development is going well under Gerrard, he could do with some more goals and assists.
He remains one of Gerrard’s constants. Despite not being one of the most exciting signings of the summer, Ejaria is nearly undroppable for the Gers manager.
The midfielder has played in every big game for the club this season – bagging vital Old Firm and European experience. Hopefully, as the Premiership reaches its Winter schedule, Ejaria can start improving on the goal trail.
