Outspoken pundit Chris Sutton claims that Rangers’ fans patience is starting to run out with Steven Gerrard.
As quoted by The Express, Sutton says Rangers fans have been “eating out of Gerrard’s hands” since the Liverpool legend joined in the summer. It’s nice to see the former Celtic striker cares so much about affairs at Ibrox.
But even the harshest of Rangers fans will admit Gerrard has brought pride back to the club. More or less, he has the full backing of the Rangers support and will do so going into the remainder of this season and the next.

“He’s clearly a figure who has put some respect into the place after the shambles of recent years he has clearly got some managerial promise given his playing career at the highest level,” said Sutton.
“But right now, it is more hype than fact. The facts are simple. Gerrard was given an awful lot of money to spend by the club and he has built his own squad.”
Is Chris Sutton stirring the pot?
While Chris Sutton does raise some good points, he misses the main one. Sutton describes the crashing cup defeats to Aberdeen as not “anywhere near good enough”.
He also criticises Rangers for not cashing in on “the serious issues across the city”.
These are points that all Rangers fans will agree with. But most also believe the Gerrard project is a work in progress.

The consensus is that overhaul after overhaul isn’t conducive to the long-term success of the club.
The notion that Rangers fans are about to reconsider Gerrard’s position is ridiculous. The notion that fans would listen to a prominent Celtic voice suggesting it is probably even more so.
It’s almost as bad as those pundits who’re still raging at Rangers’ celebrations in December’s Old Firm win.
