Orange County SC have sent a rousing message to Rangers on Twitter ahead of the Old Firm derby at Celtic Park on Saturday afternoon.

The California-based club partnered up with the Gers in December 2019 in a wide-ranging agreement and three Academy players headed to the States in February to gain first-team experience in the USL Championship.

The Rangers Academy also recently announced the signing of USA youth international goalkeeper Aaron Cervantes from OCSC [Rangers.co.uk], who is likely to arrive in Glasgow in 2021 following a loan spell with a European club.

Given the links, it’s no surprise that the US side are supporting the Gers on derby day.

The match will be on in the middle of the night in California, but OCSC tweeted a supportive message in the build-up.

“One of the most iconic soccer games on the planet, the “Old Firm Derby” @RangersFC versus Celtic,” they wrote on Twitter. “Smash em Gers! We’ll be watching.⁣”

It seems a former Rangers midfielder will also be tuning in from the States after ex-USA international Maurice Edu tweeted his own message of support.

“Can’t wait to watch the old firm tomorrow morning! Miss playing in these games! Mon the Gers!”

Rangers should be high in confidence heading into the fixture following four consecutive wins in the lead-up to the international break, while they won the last Old Firm at Parkhead 2-1.

Steven Gerrard’s men currently sit top of the Premiership table by a point but their fierce rivals hold a game in hand and have won their last eight matches in all competitions.
