One-time Rangers target set for stunning Bayern Munich move - report

One-time Rangers linked Hearts full-back Aaron Hickey has reportedly signed for German giants Bayern Munich, according to a leading journalist.

Sports journalist Nicolo Schira is reporting that the move is a “done deal” and that Hickey, 18, will sign a five-year contract at the club.

The talented full-back has been attracting a host of suitors after he broke through into the Jambos team as a 17-year-old and established himself at Tynecastle over the last few seasons.

Hickey is said to have visited the training centre of the likes of Bologna with a view to a move, with Champions League semi-finalists Lyon also attributed with an interest [Scottish Sun].

That same report links the likes of Aston Villa, Lazio, Manchester City and Celtic to the player.

Rangers were heavily linked to Hickey in October last year when the Scottish Sun claimed the talented young Scot was on a shortlist of then newly-appointed sporting director Ross Wilson.

This infamously had then Hearts boss Craig Levein joking that he’d like to sign Alfredo Morelos but it was unlikely to happen.

“Who do we play at the weekend?” said Levein, before joking: “We’re going to put an offer in for [Alfredo] Morelos tomorrow [EEN].

“I’m taking [the Hickey speculation] with a lump of salt.”

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard would then play down the interest and the Ibrox club have scarcely been linked with a move since [Scotsman].

Now it looks like Hickey is set for a glamourous move to Bayern Munich as he looks set to continue his development with the Bundesliga champions.
