One-time reported Rangers target Josh Maja is showing the Ibrox club exactly what they’re missing as he hit a deadly double for new side Fulham over the weekend.

The 22-year-old striker is currently on-loan at Craven Cottage from Ligue 1 side Bordeaux and proved his potency up top with both goals in a 2-0 win over Everton.

The two goals were made even more impressive by the fact this was ex-Sunderland star Maja’s full Premier League debut as Fulham scrap to stay in the English topflight.

Maja showed his predatory instincts for the first to slide in on a cross in the six-yard box and the second wasn’t much different.

This time however the forward pounced on the rebound to tap it in from inside the six-yard area with his two goals now hauling Fulham within seven points of safety, with one game in hand.

A report in the Sunday People (Print edition 20/1/2019, page 49), suggested that Rangers were interested in signing Maja when his contract was expiring at the Stadium of Light.

However, the forward opted for a move to Bordeaux where he spent two years before joining Fulham on loan in January.

The striker made 48 appearances for the Ligue 1 side, scoring 11 goals, and now he will be hoping to build on his good form as Fulham look to rescue their Premier League status.

Rangers have been boosted by the return of two of their key forwards for the Europa League first leg against Antwerp but one of them in particular is walking a suspension tight-rope.
