One-time reported Rangers target and talented Dinamo midfielder Lovro Majer looks set for a move to English Championship club Birmingham City, according to reports in Croatia.

Sportske Novosti reports that the Blues want to sign the talented Croatian youngster on-loan but the Zagreb side are holding out for a permanent deal.

According to the Sportske Novosti report, any deal would likely be around €5-6m as Dinamo look to cash in on one of the 1.HNL’s brightest talents.

Links to the talented midfielder are also backed up by Balkan football journalist Filip Mishov.

Mishov claims Dinamo want around £4m for the player.

Any move also comes after Birmingham controversially sold 17-year-old midfielder Jude Bellingham for close to £20m to German giants Borussia Dortmund.

The St. Andrews side would then go on to controversially retire their number 22 shirt in honour of the youngster despite the fact he only played 44 games for the club.

The English Championship club is clearly grateful for the substantial fee they received for the player and retire the number “to remember one of our own and to inspire others” [BCFC].

Majer, 22, could replace Bellingham at St. Andrews after the youngster moved to the Bundesliga.

Rangers were heavily linked with a move for Majer by Filip Mishov in January as the Ibrox club looked to secure talent for their title charge.

Rangers opted to move for Romanian wonderkid Ianis Hagi, 21, on a loan deal from Genk instead and made the move permanent to the tune of £3m in the summer.
