Rangers could come to rue a major missed opportunity as once Ibrox-linked striker Ivan Toney is currently thriving in the Premier League with Brentford and shows no sign of slowing down.
Of course, we have Alfredo Morelos who is currently back to his best under Giovanni van Bronckhorst, but after seeing Toney’s incredible stats, he would have been an excellent signing.

It was well known that Celtic was in the running to sign the player with the Gers also interested as he entered his final year at Peterborough United.
Toney eventually signed for Brentford for a fee rising to £10m [SkySports] and he had instant success, scoring 33 times as the side were promoted to the Premier League.

The 25-year-old is currently valued at £28.8m [Transfermarkt] and has eased into life in the top flight, scoring 13 goals whilst adding a further three assists.
His last two matches have seen the striker net five times and his next move will surely make Brentford a tidy profit on the initial £5m they spent on him.
What might have been had he signed for the Gers, of course, there are no guarantees he would have settled well in Scotland, but with the form he has shown in the previous two campaigns, it’s fair to say those higher up at Ibrox will be ruing the missed opportunity.
Some extra firepower would stand the team in good stead at this moment in time, especially during league duty.

Don’t be surprised if, in a few years, the Englishman reaches the very top of the game.
