Kane Hemmings has spoken to the Scottish Sun about Greg Stewart’s transfer to Rangers.
Now of Notts County, Hemmings spent several seasons in Scottish football and played alongside the Ibrox new boy at both Dundee and Cowdenbeath.

He’s well placed to know the 29-year-old’s strengths and weaknesses. Encouragingly, then, he believes Steven Gerrard has got himself a real player.
“If Rangers play the same way they finished last season, with the two players in behind the striker, then it is almost tailor-made for him,” Hemmings told the Scottish Sun. “They will be on the ball a lot, so he will love the chance to play people in and run at his opponent.”
“On his day Greg is one of the best attackers in the Premiership and if they can get him on the ball then he will do damage to teams.
“I have known him for years, this is his boyhood dream, the cherry on the cake getting back to the club he loves. I always thought he could reach the very top. It is not like he hasn’t put the work in to get where he is now.
“Greg is brilliant for attackers and he sees things that other people don’t. Whenever I made a run, nine times out of ten he would find me. He’ll create plenty of chances for the strikers, it will be up to them to put them away. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him up near the top of the assist charts next season.”

Verdict
It’s encouraging to see a fellow professional speak about Stewart in such a glowing way.
Hemmings was prolific during the 2015-16 season with Dundee and clearly feels he owes a lot of that to Stewart.
In Alfredo Morelos and Jermain Defoe, the Gers have two top class finishers who won’t disappoint if the ex-Birmingham City man can replicate that kind of form at Ibrox.

Although he received a good welcome last week, not all Rangers fans are convinced on Stewart.
Hemmings’ testimony is the latest in a series of glowing reports, though. Livingston manager Gary Holt said he was the best in the league when at Kille [
Let’s hope Rangers’ newest arrival can live up to those standards.
