He produced some excellent displays but also made several high-profile errors and was heavily criticised by Gers supporters.

Having headed back south of the border in the summer, it looked as though more of the same would follow after he made a mistake in a pre-season friendly against Alfreton.

However, since the Championship campaign began, the former England youth international has been in commanding form.

He’s played every minute (1350) of the season so far, and turned in a Man of the Match performance in the East Midlands Derby on Saturday afternoon.

Lewis Grabban’s goal ensured Forest defeated Derby County 1-0 to secure the Brian Clough Trophy, but it was £5.4m-rated Worrall’s [Transfermarkt] defensive efforts which received the most plaudits.

He was rock solid at the back alongside Tobias Figueiredo, with their defensive partnership helping to keep the likes of Chris Martin and Tom Lawrence at bay.

Following the game, he posted a picture of the team celebrating in the changing room with the trophy captioned ‘What dreams are made of’, and it received plenty of attention from the club’s fans.
