Rangers rivals Dundee United have asked their top players to take a wage cut as the impact of football within the coronavirus pandemic rears its head.
There have been previous claims that Scottish football faces Armageddon should fans not be allowed back into stadiums with Dundee United the first topflight club in this situation.

The Tannadice side have asked their “stunned” players to take a 20% wage cut as they look to manage the finances of the crisis-hit club [Scotsman].
Whilst no agreement between the club and the players has been reached this will almost certainly alert clubs considering moves for their key assets.
Scotland international striker Lawrence Shankland and Swiss keeper Benjamin Siegrist stand out as the side’s two top performers.
However, there is also a catch to the negotiations with the Scottish Sun claiming that any wage cuts will not involve players signed in the summer – rather scandalously amid the pandemic.
The rivalry between the two clubs has intensified over the last decade and reached fever pitch during Rangers’ own financial troubles back in 2012.
The Ibrox club were particularly peeved after former Arabs chairman Stephen Thompson was a vocal opponent of Rangers being allowed back into the top league.
No set of fans know more about financial difficulties than Rangers but given many Dundee United supporters had a party in 2012, they’re getting little sympathy from the Gers support now.

This is a largely conflicting issue for many fans but the argument about employees at the Dundee United losing their jobs was still just as relevant at Rangers.
The Ibrox support has long memories and with the relationship between them and Dundee United fans soured by the past, anyone expecting sympathy from most Rangers fans will be waiting a long time.
