A total of nine first-team Rangers players have been called up for international duty as the Ibrox flag is flown across the continent in the UEFA Nations League fixtures [Rangers].

Rangers full-back Borna Barisic will join up with World Cup runners up Croatia for tough tests against World Champions France and Euro 2016 winners Portugal.

It’s a challenge which the talented 27-year-old left-back is relishing.

Gangly midfielder Glen Kamara will also represent Finland after playing a starring role in getting the Scandinavians to their first ever major football tournament in Euro 2020.

The Finns will play Wales and the Republic of Ireland over the break.

Ulster duo Steven Davis and Jordan Jones will look to represent Northern Ireland as Davo continues his mission to become the most capped British player of all time.

The Ulster Xavi currently holds 117 caps for Northern Ireland and will catch up with England goalkeeper Peter Shilton (125) in the matches against Romania and Norway.

Davis will also face off against Romanian teammate Ianis Hagi after the 21-year-old was called up to represent his country.

Hagi will face off against Northern Ireland and Austria as he turns out for the Eastern European nation.

Big Swedish defender Filip Helander has also been called up to represent his country after playing a starring role in Rangers’ record-breaking clean sheet run at the start of the season.

Last but not least, Rangers also have three representatives in the Scotland national team set-up as Ryan Jack, Jon McLaughlin and Robby McCrorie make the cut.

The total would also include another four names but for the fact this run of fixtures involves only European competition with Leon Balogun, Joe Aribo (both Nigeria), Scott Arfield (Canada) and Alfredo Morelos (Colombia) all regulars with their country.

Striker Cedric Itten also had to pull out of Switzerland’s meetings with Ukraine and Germany due to a calf injury.

Rangers will also see six youth players travel to the Scotland U21 squad – making Rangers the club with the highest number of representatives in the nation’s youth squad.

These are Nathan Patterson, Kieran Wright, Lewis Mayo, Glenn Middleton, Stephen Kelly and Ross McCrorie, who will move to Aberdeen permanently at the end of the season.
