The future of Nicolas Raskin is the subject of much debate as Rangers prepare to be taken over by US investors.

The Belgian midfielder, 24, is about to enter the final two years of his Rangers contract and this could be the prime moment for the Ibrox side to cash in.

Raskin excelled during a maiden Belgium call-up with eyes likely to be casting glances towards the Ibrox midfielder after impressing in the Europa League.

But when asked about ‘what’s next’, Nicolas Raskin certainly doesn’t sound in any rush to move on from Rangers as he reflects on a positive 30 months in Glasgow.

Nicolas Raskin hints at Rangers exit apprehension

Nicolas Raskin is clear about his Chelsea dream as the midfielder looks to use Rangers as a stepping stone to the Premier League.

Rangers must position themselves as a useful opportunity to audition for Europe’s top clubs as they look to attract young talent from across the globe to Ibrox.

But with Raskin sure to have admiring glances in his direction, the Rangers star is apprehensive to leave Ibrox unless he can get assurances over playing time.

“I’ve been here for two and a half years,” Raskin told RTBF. “It’s gone very well for me, especially this season.

“You have to see what the club wants, what will come on the table, and try to do the best for everyone. As a footballer, you always want to look ahead and see what you could do better.

“If you want to give yourself the best chance to compete in an international competition, you have to be able to compete at a big club.

“But the goal isn’t to go to a club where you’ll play less and lose that advantage you have of playing every week. It will be a balancing act to find.”

Rangers fired Belgium 2026 warning by Nicolas Raskin

With Nicolas Raskin in patient mood when it comes to his Rangers future, the midfielder is clear that he has ambitions at the top level with Belgium.

With Raskin admitting he wants to return to Standard later in his career, Nico puts representing his country as the pinnacle of his career ambitions.

As part of that, Raskin has always had his eyes set on the 2026 FIFA World Cup in USA, Canada & Mexico and perhaps a role in that Belgium squad will be crucial to his Rangers future.

“The 2026 World Cup has always been a goal since I started playing,” Raskin said. “You can ask my friends and family, I’ve been talking about it for a long time.

“At the time, I said to myself: ‘Now is not my time, but I have my sights set on the 2026 World Cup.’ I would like to be there, I will do everything to be there.

“It’s up to me to maintain a level good enough to be selected and to perform when I’m in the national team. It was a childhood dream. I followed the Devils in every competition they played in.”
