Rangers boss Steven Gerrard is widely considered one of the best midfielders of a generation during his playing days at Liverpool and Brazilian superstar Neymar has paid him a special tribute.
The £200m PSG forward named the Anfield legend in his five-a-side team in what is a solid testament to the ability and legacy of the now Ibrox manager.
Speaking to Red Bull ahead of the fifth edition of the Red Bull Neymar Jr’s Five, the 27-year-old Brazilian named Gerrard alongside an iconic team of superstars.
In Neymar’s “retired players” five-a-side team, he names Steven Gerrard alongside Frank Lampard, David Beckham, Xavi and Thierry Henry.
Not exactly bad company for the former Liverpool hero to be keeping.
Neymar also named another five-a-side team as he promotes the special five-a-side event alongside Red Bull.
The former Barcelona and Santos striker named Kylian Mbappé, Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, Eden Hazard and Paul Pogba in a five-a-side team of currently active non-Brazilians.
Neymar also claims that the players he would’ve loved to have played alongside include Romario, Ronaldo, Zinedine Zidane and Zlatan Ibrahimović.

It’s not the first high-praise Steven Gerrard has received from a global footballing icon this week either.
