Frank Lampard may have failed to do much of note at Chelsea or Everton, but that has not stopped him from being linked with the managerial role at Rangers.
Rangers are on the hunt for a new manager after sacking Michael Beale.
I am not at all surprised that Rangers got rid of Beale.
Results and performances in the Scottish Premiership this season have been poor.
Rangers linked with Frank Lampard
And, although Celtic are above Rangers in the table at the moment, it is only the beginning of October, and I believe that the Gers could still catch them with someone other than Beale in change.
One of the managers who is being linked with Rangers is Chelsea legend Frank Lampard.
According to Glasgow World, the former Chelsea and Everton manager is on the shortlist of candidates at Rangers.
The Rangers hierarchy are “interested in speaking” to the 45-year-old former England international midfielder.
Pep Guardiola really rates Frank Lampard
Pep Guardiola is one of the best managers of all time, and the Manchester City boss really rates Lampard.
Back in June 2020, Guardiola backed the Englishman to become an extraordinary manager.
Chelsea’s official website quoted the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager as saying about Lampard at the time: “Frank Lampard was an extraordinary football player and he will be an extraordinary manager.
“He did a really good season and I am delighted to watch his team.”

My view: Rangers should avoid Frank Lampard
Personally, I do not think that Rangers should appoint Frank Lampard if they get a better and more experienced candidate.
While Lampard did relatively well in his first spell in charge of Chelsea, he just could not get a tune out of the players in his caretaker role at Stamford Bridge last season.
Lampard’s spell at Everton was disappointing too, and it ended in him getting the sack.
Now, I am not saying that Lampard cannot become a very good manager.
After all, Guardiola thinks that he could become “extraordinary”.
But, he is not there yet.
And Rangers should not be Lampard’s stepping stone.
I think that at this moment in time, Rangers should look at someone who would be able to make an immediate impact on the team as well as get them back on track to challenge for the Scottish Premiership title.
Rangers need a manager who has been successful in recent years and is doing well at the moment.
