Rangers are on the hunt for a new manager after sacking Michael Beale, and Sam Allardyce has now publicly said that he would be interested in taking over at Ibrox.

Former Newcastle United and West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce has said that it would be an honour for him to take charge of Rangers.

Rangers sacked Michael Beale as their manager over the weekend and are now looking for a replacement.

Sam Allardyce interested in Rangers manager job

Allardyce, 68, has suggested that he would love to become the new manager of Rangers.

The Englishman is without a managerial job at the moment.

The former Leeds United boss said on No Tippy Tappy Football: “If they came and asked me and talked to me, it would be an honour at Rangers.

“Speaking to Alex McLeish and Fergie about it, it’s an unbelievable football club.

“Not that I am actively promoting myself for the job, but clearly it has not gone (well for Michael Beale).”

My View: Rangers should not consider Sam Allardyce

In my opinion, Rangers should not consider hiring Sam Allardyce as their next manager.

I think that Allardyce is a very good manager, and I have no doubt that ‘Big Sam’ would do a brilliant job in the short term, but Rangers need to look beyond this season.

Rangers need a manager who will be able to sort out the team’s current problems as well as make them better for the next few seasons.

In recent years, Allardyce has managed teams just to make sure that they do not get relegated.

Now, that is not his fault.

After all, we know that the former Bolton Wanderers and Leeds United manager is very good at it.

But, Rangers need to consider that Allardyce has not recently been in a job where he was there for a few years and grew the team.
