New Rangers signing Jack Butland says is “not happy” with the Rugby Park opening day horror show against Kilmarnock; but he’s not getting carried away.

The experienced former England goalkeeper was a rare positive from the weekend’s stumbling 1-0 defeat to Killie but didn’t stand a chance as Rangers’ calamity defending allowed Brad Lyons to lash in the winner.

At the top end of the park Rangers also came up short with the pressure already mounting on this new look side heading into what promises to be a tight season.

Jack Butland claims Rangers “not happy” with Kilmarnock defeat

With the bulk of the campaign to come, Jack Butland isn’t getting carried away following defeat to Kilmarnock but the Rangers stopper was clear that he and his teammates are “not happy” with the result.

“Nothing is won or lost at this point,” said Jack Butland following the defeat to Kilmarnock.

“We are confident with what we have got in the building. Performance wise, we were lacking a little bit and could have been more clinical in the final third.

“Teams against us are going to make it difficult, there is no getting away from that.

“If people didn’t realise that before they know now. It is going to be tough for us because playing against Rangers is a cup final for everybody. You can see that with the way that they reacted and the way the fans reacted for them.

“We know what it is about. We are not happy going home but we have got to focus on Wednesday and get that first win of the season and we go from there.”

Butland a rare positive in Killie horror show

Jack Butland certainly looked an assured and confident presence between the sticks for Rangers and there is real optimism the stopper can replace Allan McGregor at Ibrox.

The Gers goalie is one of nine new signings in the door at Rangers but there is no patience left for supporters starved of success and consistently let down by what’s being served up on the park.

Jack Butland and all the other players involved v Kilmarnock will not get a bye and now attention turns to two big fixtures this week which Rangers, quite simply, must find a way to win.
