New Rangers fan favourite Borna Barisic has opened up on his recent form, as quoted by the Scottish Herald.

The 26-year-old endured a difficult first season at Ibrox and was written off by some supporters after a poor showing in the 2019/20 Premiership opener against Kilmarnock.

However, he has come of age in recent weeks in the Light Blue jersey, cementing his position at left-back with excellent performances against Feyenoord and St Johnstone.

He was also one of the few players to do themselves justice on Thursday night against Young Boys.

“If I was just looking at myself then I feel very good and I think everyone sees that on the pitch, but of course I am not happy because Rangers lost,” said Barisic, as quoted by the Scottish Herald.

“This is the best I have played since I have come here but it isn’t the best I can be.

“How much more is there to come? You will see.”

Verdict

Rangers fans should be excited by these comments, with the Croatian international predicting big things as the season progresses.

So far this campaign, we’ve seen his prowess from free-kicks, the return of his dangerous crossing, improved positional awareness and greater commitment to tackles. He looks every inch the top quality full-back he was billed to be when he arrived at the club.

His efforts have brought a much better balance to the team, and now Rangers have a threat from both flanks.

It took Barisic some time to win the fans over, but if he keeps on getting better, they are in for a treat.
