At the start of July, after completing his switch from Aberdeen to Rangers, Connor Barron highlighted the attributes he felt made him the ideal addition to Philippe Clement’s midfield.
And he wasn’t wrong either.
Of Rangers’ many summer signings thus far, Scotland Under 21 international Connor Barron has been comfortably the most impressive thus far.
He was absolutely on the money, it seems, when he said that Clement’s football ‘suits me to a tee’ due to his creativity in possession and his fearsome work-rate without it.
Rangers will be hoping that Neraysho Kasanwirjo can prove equally successful. And equally correct, the deadline day arrival from Feyenoord speaking to Rangers’ official website and explaining the attributes he will bring to a much-changed squad.

Rangers sign Neraysho Kasanwirjo alongside Nedim Bajrami
“I’m a defender who likes to play with the ball, but obviously I can play in my duels and I’m both fast and strong,” Kasanwirjo explains. “That’s what the coach is looking for.”
Rangers have looked to bring versatile, tactically intelligent footballers of late. Kasanwirjo, who can play as a centre-half, a full-back and as a defensive midfielder certainly ticks that box, alongside fellow deadline day arrival Nedim Bajrami.
And while he might have struggled to really make his mark at Feyenoord – now-Liverpool boss Arne Slot feels he needs to hone his concentration and decision making to become a really ‘top player’ – Kasanwirjo’s background in Dutch football should also aid a Rangers team who like to play a possession-based game.
After spending last season in Austria on loan at Rapid Vienna, Kasanwirjo joins an ever-growing collection of Eredivisie exports at Ibrox.
Robin Propper, Danilo and Vaclav Cerny all represented FC Twente, while Cyriel Dessers won the division’s Golden Boot at Heracles, some of those additions driven by former PSV Eindhoven scout Nils Koppen.
“I’m very excited to join the club and play for the fans,” adds Kasanwirjo, who will wear the number 24 shirt at Ibrox.
“I spoke with the coach who had a good feeling, and the most important thing for me is to play and help the team as much as I can. Everyone wants to play in Europe, and that was an extra step for me to join Rangers.
“I’m very excited because who wouldn’t want to play in front of 51,000 people? I can’t wait to meet them and I will give my all. It’s nice facilities. The stadium and training complex are really beautiful, so it’s been good so far.”
Philippe Clement delighted by new Eredivisie arrival
Clement, meanwhile, is delighted to add another highly-flexible footballer to his ranks.
“We are thrilled to welcome Neraysho to the football club and we believe he will be a big asset to the team,” says the former Monaco and Club Brugge boss.
“He can play in a number of defensive positions and will be a good option for the squad with the domestic and European commitments we have this campaign.
“He is looking forward to starting the next chapter in his career and we are pleased Neraysho has decided to join Rangers.”
