Neil McCann tells Philippe Clement 4 things he can’t do and signals Rangers death knell

For many people, the writing appears to be on the wall for Philippe Clement at Rangers.

Defeat to Queen’s Park in the Scottish Cup was the final straw for most, but after clinging onto his job he simply couldn’t go an follow it up by losing 2-0 at home to St Mirren.

That’s exactly what happened at Gers’ home yesterday though and the manager’s days are looking numbered.

Fans were rightly furious after the cup exit and it’s only getting worse so Clement’s time at Rangers is surely up.

Clement was told during the post-match press conference that he has lost the fan base – responding by again insisting it is the board’s job to decide whether that is the case.

Pundits have already been giving their say and Ian McCall reckons the Gers players have “chucked it” under the current manager.

Now, another has given his verdict.

McCann agrees Clement’s time at Rangers is up

Stopping just short of calling for the Belgian’s head, Neil McCann nevertheless asserted he doesn’t think the manager makes it through this.

The former Rangers winger doesn’t see a figurehead who is empowering his team, breeding a confidence or who is able to change things for the better in-game.

And he sees the pressure growing on the current incumbent.

McCann told BBC Sportscene: “I really am not sure that he survives this one. I hate to see people lose their job, but he looked a broken man at the end of that. He looked down.

“As a manager you’ve got to empower your team, you’ve got to emanate there’s a confidence, you can change things, plus you’ve got to show fans that you can change games in play.

“I think there’s lots there that are contributing, I think he will come under pressure again tonight.”

Clement apologises to Rangers fans

I can say only sorry and apologise out of me, out of the team,” Clement said after the match.

”Because this is not what Rangers teams need to show on the pitch.

”We all know that this was by far below the standards that we all expect.“
