NARSA Rangers convention cancelled due to global pandemic

The annual North American Rangers Supporters Association (NARSA) convention has been cancelled amid the global pandemic.

Originally set to be held in San Francisco on the weekend June 4th – 6th, the group’s organisers took to Facebook to announce that this year’s event could not go ahead.

With bears travelling from across North America and the globe to make the event, it is a considerable shame so many will be left disappointed, even if it is necessary.

“Further to our communication from last week things have escalated more rapidly than we could have imagined with drastic measures being taken all over the world to combat the continued threat of COVID-19 (Coronavirus),” explains NARSA president Gary Gillan [NARSA].

“The NARSA Executive are faced with an unprecedented situation and after factoring in as much information as we have right now, I’m sorry to inform you that we’ve taken the difficult decision to cancel this year’s convention in San Francisco.

“With the safety and well-being of our guests always at the forefront of our convention planning efforts, it becomes clearer with every passing day that it is unsafe and unrealistic to proceed with the convention this year.

“We will be in touch shortly with instructions around the logistics for hotel room cancellations and the process for refunding your monies already paid out for convention tickets and golf.

“Thanks in advance for your patience and understanding, and please stay safe.”

The annual NARSA event sees supporters from across North America, Europe and the rest of the world converge on a location to celebrate Rangers and discuss the club’s plans for the future.

This year’s event was set to be held in san Francisco and flights into the US from across Europe. the UK and Ireland are currently banned.

Regularly attended by important people from within the club, you could’ve expected to see executives, ex-players and fan influencers in the crowd at the hugely popular event.

The situation involving the coronavirus epidemic has brought the whole of Europe and the US to a screeching halt with football secondary to growing concerns over people’s health.

The domestic league season has been shut down with the UK government’s timeline [Boris Johnson] over the outbreaksuggesting it won’t be completed by UEFA’s deadline of June the 30th.
