Nacho Novo’s Rangers bar are recruiting five-a-side teams, with the former Rangers star set to get involved himself.

Novo, who was a cult-figure at Rangers after spending six years at Ibrox, now owns a Rangers-themed bar – NN10 Bar and Lounge. So far, it’s been growing from strength to strength since opening back at the tail-end of last year.

The former Gers hero managed to smash home 71 goals in 253 appearances at Ibrox, winning three league titles. He was lauded for his goals against Celtic and in Europe in particular, and remains a huge fans-favourite.

Now, however, it appears that the Gers hero is fed up of not playing the game.

A post on the official Facebook page announced its intention to start up its own five-a-side league.

“Have you ever dreamt of playing football with a Rangers Legend? Sign up to NN10’s Fives League and you’ll get the chance to do just that.

“We want those with concrete interest to come forward. We want six teams of seven players for the NN10 5’S FOOTBALL LEAGUE. Each week, Nacho will rotate around the teams. We’ll be using the rotational subs.

“On Monday 29th October, we’ll be holding a planning meeting in the bar. Please, if you are interested in playing, can you come along to this event? Everyone who has signed up will be placed into a team at random and team names and colors will be attributed then.”

A huge opportunity

For those who still consider themselves a lover of playing the game, this is a great opportunity. The bar have announced that every player who participates will be entitled to a free bottle of beer.

The start date for the league will be November 5th, and will run into next year. For those interested in the venue, it will take place at the indoor 5-a-side pitches at Scotland Street. The bar will then put on some free sandwiches after each Monday night event.

The fee for involvement is just £5 per week, which is a small price to pay to get involved with a Rangers legend. Each match is scheduled to last a total of 50 minutes, with 25 for each half. Participants will also have to bring along their own pairs of shorts, socks, and boots.

Anyone interested is subsequently encouraged to send an email to [email protected] The post stresses that participants must be available from 7pm every Monday night.

For anyone wishing to participate, we wish you all the best from Rangers News!
