Musical artist Owen Westlake has thanked Rangers and Steven Gerrard after one of his tracks was adopted as an unofficial anthem of 55.
House track So Much Love was playing in Steven Gerrard’s car as he approached Ibrox Stadium to play St Mirren in March with the Gers on the verge of securing the title.
Fans had appeared at Ibrox in huge numbers to celebrate the occasion and the video of the gaffer’s approach went viral in the aftermath of the game.
As a result Rangers fans hunted down the track which was playing as the scenes unfolded at Ibrox and it turned out to be Owen Westlake’s track.
Now, the dance track has been named Radio 1’s Dance Anthem of the day as the tune’s increased exposure helps it gather momentum.
The role Gerrard and Rangers have played in the musician’s release achieving this was not lost on Westlake who took to Twitter to thank the Ibrox side for “putting the song on the map”.
There have been plenty of tracks adopted as Rangers tunes this year as the club achieves a legendary 55th title.
Rangers fans adopted Mental as Anything classic Live it Up back in October last year after defeating Old Firm rivals Celtic.
The song became so prominent in Rangers circles that the story reached the band, who thanked Gers fans, and even made Aussie media.
Rangers fans also adopted a Neil Diamond classic after a legendary interview from Stevie G involving Colombian striker Alfredo Morelos.
