Alfredo Morelos has teased Rangers supporters by putting up a post o Instagram of what seems like him training at the gym – could he play against Eintracht Frankfurt?
The Colombian striker has been injured since coming off against Dundee in March and his missed the club’s most important games of the season and would be a welcome return given the lack of options that the side has in the forward areas.
Morelos is the top European goal scorer in the club’s history, scoring an impressive 29 goals and has more than contributed to the side’s run to Seville, netting against Dortmund and Red Star as well as scoring an important brace against Sparta Prague in November to fire the club into the knockout rounds.
He also scored the winning goal against Alakshert in August to take the club to the group stages, so everyone knows the importance of the Colombian in these fixtures?
Is it true?
At today’s UEFA Media Day at the Rangers Training Centre, manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst said that the striker would be returning to Colombia in time for the game on Wednesday to cheer the team on, suggesting that Morelos is still in his homeland.
He also said at the end of March that Morelos was out for the season, so it is highly unlikely that he will play, even if he is back training.
We have seen from his previous social media posts that Morelos frequently posts pictures of him training and playing for Rangers, such is his love for the club, so it’s entirely possible that this is an old picture, and he is perhaps trying to cause some mischief which would of course be very unlike him.
His contract expires next summer along with the likes of Ryan Kent and Joe Aribo so Ross Wilson and van Bronckhorst will be desperate to tie the players down to new deals to either keep them or ensure they get a good price for the duo.
