Morelos hometown turns out to support him on his International debut

Colombian striker Alfredo Morelos is clearly well thought of in his hometown of Cerete.

Plenty of people from the tiny town turned out to cheer on the striker’s international debut.

The town has a population of close to 60,000 (smaller than Ayr) and Alfredo is something of a local legend.

Heartwarming appreciation from locals

Alfredo has come a long way since leaving Cerete, but has clearly never forgot his roots. The local people in his hometown are his biggest fans. And it’s amazing to see.

Morelos’ form has been rampant almost since he left Colombia and if Rangers fans think they’re happy with him – imagine how the people of Cerete feel. This is a young man with the world at his feet and opportunity abound.

One of their own, plying his trade on the international stage. It’s heartwarming, and shows just how highly he’s thought of in Colombia.

There is clearly high hopes for Morelos

If the videos and pictures prove one thing, it’s that Morelos is a popular boy in his home country.

The charismatic 22-year-Old has forged a relationship with fans Colombian and Rangers alike.

Making his debut with the international team is a big step for the striker. And he did himself and his hometown justice in Colombia’s 2-1 win over Venezuela.

Alfredo provided the assist for the Colombia winner after coming on with 12 minutes to go.

Morelos will be hoping to build on the performance and become a regular in the national team.
